Commissioned by Ogilvy & Mather and represented by Veronica Leone, I cast and photographed working truck drivers on the outskirts of Dubai and in the deserts of Abu Dhabi by the Saudi border. We travelled by car, van and 4 wheel drive with my producer Scott, the art director of the concept, Ramzi, along with an assistant, a federal police representative, guides and drivers.
I learned to love Chicken Biryani and the fridge in the Range Rover. At one point we were surrounded by soldiers with automatic weapons. We had trespassed onto a military facility. The truck drivers were gracious and they worked hard for their wages. The desert was beautiful. This assignment was shot on film.
