In 1994, in the January summer holiday, there was not any assignment work. It was looking the same for February. I was approached by UQP (publishers) for an assignment to photograph, in February, ageing and pretty much retired Aboriginal Australian drovers who were the characters in Herb Wharton's book Cattle Camp. I had a feeling that the pictures would one day be important and it was all I had that month, by way of work, anyway. I also wanted the experience.
I took the assignment. It was among the most interesting assignments that I have done.
